Village Historical Atlas Project: application to the Heritage Lottery Fund
This application is being led by Jo Catling, with the full support of the Committee. Since prehistoric times Whittingham Vale has been an important focus for human activity. The project aims to help the communities of the area to rediscover the heritage of the Vale and in time create a permanent display within St Bartholomew's Church for the pleasure and benefit of the communities of the Vale and the many summer visitors to our area.
The project will seek to involve as many other groups and residents within the area as possible, including the Schools, Scout group and the churches.
We intend to seek help from the Archaeological Practice in Newcastle, who have already created such collections of historical information for the villages in and adjoining the National Park, including Ingram. We also have the support of the Northumberland National Park Authority.
